She had those natural eyes of blooming tiger lillies and monarch butterflies
What beauty lies in secrets untold where darkness moves and passions unfold
Never had she thought they could be lovers
Never had she thought they would run to each other
She fathomed they would kiss and run in the moonlight
Or sit on wet grass and theorize in the twilight
They could hold
Hands
One trying to understand
The other trying to pray against the cold
Both pretending it hadn’t happened so fast
Both trying to make it last
Both dreaming of a love swell
And eyes never afraid to tell
